Oh No, Not The Kids!

Over the weekend, I went to see a movie for the first time in forever.

I decided to see Born Leader, as there weren’t any other movies I was interested in. Let me be honest, I saw the preview a while ago and I really wanted to see it! LOL I don’t care, I’m a kid at heart.

So while watching the movie there were moments I felt like ‘oh, oh hmm this is quite naughty for a children’s movie’.

So on one hand, I was told that my mind wasn’t innocent which is why I picked on those things. That the kids, the movie was intended for, wouldn’t pick up on those things.

On the other hand, of course the movie was made by adults and so their influence will show in some ways. Plus, I guess they chose to also give the adults who take the kids to see the movie some entertainment as well, so they don’t fall asleep.

My issue with adult content in kiddies’ movies, shows and cartoons is I think subconsciously we’re feeding kids with information that they don’t need to be exposed to! Yes, they might not be able to interpret it the way we do, but I don’t think that’s a good enough excuse.

In recent times, I have seen scenes from cartoons I used to watch as a kid contain sexual acts, lingo or inferences! It’s actually quite appalling to me!

I plan to be that crazy parent who screens everything their kids consume when it comes to media.

A line needs to be drawn, let’s not contaminate their pure minds. Let life do that to them as they get older, not the media content supposedly created for kids
