I was just scrolling through the timeline and stumbled across this image…
- It’s an education-related initiative being promoted
- It’s sponsored by the governor of the state
- There’s a TERRIBLE TYPO!
‘Quality education is are sure’ Ohhhh now you see it too!!! They meant to write ‘Quality education is assured‘ *cries real tears*
My first reaction was to laugh! And I laughed hard because you know ineverexperredit! However, after several minutes, the reality of how terrible our education system in Nigerian re-hit me!
So end of last year, I was working on a project and had to do a lot of research concerning education in Nigeria and the stats and reality were daunting! I actually cried. I really believe if we fix the education system in Nigeria, the country will be better than ever!
The reality is that right now, the poor education system has infiltrated to every aspect of society and unfortunately it’s only getting worse.
There are cool initiatives to help reverse the current status quo and my favorite is Teach For Nigeria; they are part of a global initiative and I believe in their vision. If you’re interested you should look them up and see if it’s something you might be able to take part in!
We all can play a role in the betterment of the education system, from creating awareness, to contributing resources or even being hands on and teaching someone! We don’t need to build our own schools before we can make a change! This is a social problem that directly affects every single one of us if you think deeply about it!
“Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world”
